License Types

It is free to try the software and toolboxes with the default free trial license, however to use the software for professional work and also enable all features it is required to purchase an official license. The currently available license types for different use cases are described below.

Intended Use

Licensing and (discounted) pricing is determined by the intended software use case as described in the following.

Personal / Hobby / Student

Discounted pricing for personal, hobby, and (undergraduate) student home use only. Note that personal/hobby/student licenses may not be used for (academic or commercial) research, teaching, or any form of commercial or paid work.

Academic / Research

Discounted pricing for teaching and academic research is available to degree-granting institutions. Note that academic/research licenses may not be used for any form of commercial work including commercial research.

Commercial / Enterprise

This license use-case type covers all forms of professional and commercial use (paid-work) of the software for all types of non-degree granting institutions (enterprise, government, independent consulting & freelancing, and other organizations).

Licensing Term and Type

Single User License (SUL)

The licensed software toolbox can be installed on one designated computer system and multiple users can take turns using the software on that computer, one user at a time. There is no restriction on the number of simultaneous sessions of the software that one user runs on the same computer. The software may not be accessed or used over a network or remotely for CPU-locked licenses.

1-Year

Provides the right to use the software for a 12-month period, and the software maintenance & update service is included in the annual license fee.

Perpetual

Provides the right to use the software indefinitely, and the first year of software maintenance & update service is included in the initial purchase price.

Optional extension of the software updates and maintenance service is available for 20% of the current list price for each additional year as long as the software maintenance service has not expired.

Class Kit License (CKL)

Discounted class kit licenses are only available to academic institutions for use for teaching and students in class room/computer lab settings.

The licensed software toolbox can be installed on multiple computers and accessed by up to 15 (CKL-15) or 30 (CKL-30) concurrent users per class or course.

The class kit licenses provides the right to use the software for a 12-month period, and the software maintenance & update service is included in the annual license fee. Perpetual terms are not available for class kit licenses.
